The application process for membership in the BLBBCI is a formal procedure designed to verify ancestry and ensure all constitutional requirements are met.
The burden of proof to establish eligibility rests entirely with the applicant. You must gather all necessary documents to prove you have directly descended from a line of identified and recognized Biloxi-Chitimacha ancestors as required by our Constitution. This includes, but is not limited to, birth certificates, marriage licenses, and other historical records that create a clear genealogical link.
Fill out the official membership application form completely and accurately. Knowingly and willfully falsifying an application for membership is a violation of our tribal law and will result in a hearing on Loss of Membership.
As required by our Bylaws, all applicants must declare their preference in identifying with the BLBBCI through a signed statement. This statement must be attested to by two (2) adult BLBBCI members.
Please Note: Applicants will not be allowed dual-status or dual-membership if they choose to identify with any other minority or racial status or receive any material, monetary, or identification benefits as such.
Submit your completed application and all supporting genealogical documents to the Tribal Secretary for review by the Tribal Council and Council of Elders.
